Where is the best place to mine in Skyrim?

Yes, where is the best place to mine in Skyrim? The best place to mine in Skyrim is shown in this mining article designed to give you the best places to mine in Skyrim... well, subjective based on what you are looking for, but I will give you some of the locations for mines in which you can find some of the more valuable ores, thus turning it into more valuable ingots, allowing you to make better and more valuable armor, jewelry, and weapons.

Let us start with the basics, to mine ores you will need a pickaxe, which can normally be found in mines or be bought at generally any store, i.e. the general store in whiterun. Next, you will need to find something to mine.

There are two mines, one gold mine and one iron mine, close to the town of Markath. The iron mine has plenty of veins, over 15, and the gold mine (Kolskeggr mine, east of Markath) has about 10-15 veins; meaning you will leave with 30-50 iron ores and 30-40 gold ores each time you mine here.

Also in the town of Markath, there is a Dwemer museum, which you can rob in sheer bandit style, coming out with about 300 ingots of various metals, after you have turned them into ingots that is. Click here to see how to turn ores into ingots with a smelter.

Another valuable mine with about 10-15 ebony ore veins can be found south / south east of the town of Windhelm, this is called the Gloombound mine. It is only a few tens of metres south of Narzulbur. For each vein you will come away with 2-3 ebony ores, plus any other valuables you may find (sapphires, rubys, garnets, diamonds and so on and so forth). This is a good place to mine as the levels of hostility is very very low. Just in case you are more for the "make armor, not war" kind of statement.

In Dwarven ruins, located various places around in Skyrim, you will always find plenty of ores and ingots. There is one of these ruins located in the direct vicinity Markath, and this one also has a smelter furnace and a blacksmith forge, so you can turn the ores into ingots there and then.

Moonstone veins can be found Stony Creek Cave, 2-3 veins, southeast of Windhelm. 5 veins can be found in Soljund's Sinkhole, north of Karthspire camp, and east of the Sky Haven temple. This is southeast of Markarth, about halfway to Roriksted.
