Trouble in Skyrim (Skyrim walkthrough).

To be assigned the Trouble in Skyrim mission, you first need to finish the Take up arms mission, in which you are accepted as a recruit for the Companions. You need to speak to Farkas to be given the Trouble in Skyrim mission / quest. I have later learned that this mission is repeatable and randomized every time you take the mission, so the mission might not be the same for you.

However... when I first took this mission, Farkas explained that a bandit leader and his thugs had been causing trouble up in the Valtheim tower area; and asked me if I could deal with it. I accepted the mission and ventured westwards from Whiterun to Valtheim tower. Here you will find 6-7 bandits, scarcely armored and brandishing typical weaponry. However, beware of the bandit leader as he is most likely a couple of levels above you, and he is also heavilly cladded in plate armor. Be sure to try to weaken out and eliminate as many of the other bandits as you can before engaging the bandit leader in close quarter combat. As the bandit leader does not have any range weapons he will charge out the front door of the Valtheim tower as soon as he is alerted to your presence, brandishing a full steel plate armor and a heavy warhammer which does burning damage. he is not especially quick, and you should therefore use this to your advantage. Using destruction spells (i.e. flames, frostbite or sparks) while dodging his power attacks would be a wize way to go.

After killing the bandit leader, the quest is completed. Be sure to take his warhammer of burning, as this is worth about 4-500 gold. However, you should take care to have a look around Valtheim tower as well, as there are several very valuable items here. I found several highly priced jewelry and some elven weaponry contained within the castle walls. All in all, this is a good mission, as you gain both valuable experience, weapons, armor and other loot.

The mission is finished when you return to Farkas.

This mission may vary (randomized thugs/monsters et cetera), and is thus repeatable as well; you will encounter anything from Vampires to Forsworns... and there will always be a boss / leader leading the pack, normally with an enchanted weapon, or some other magically enchanted item.

Rewards:

- 300 gold (given to you after completing the mission)

- Valuable weapons or armor (normally dropped by the leader / boss, or found in the nearby viscinity of the given quest.)

- Will unlock the Proving Honor mission, which is in the main questline for the Companions' missions.

Next mission: Proving Honor (Skyrim walkthrough).

  • Swords
  • Axes
  • Maces
  • Magic
  • I do not believe in violence... make Skyrim love, not war.
